MIDDLE SCHOOL
Masters Preparatory School houses approximately 75 students, grades
6th thru 8th. The school provides a complete educational experience.
Our academic programs are second to none, and our curriculum is
one of the best in the state of Florida. Students will also grow
and mature socially as they interact with children from several
different backgrounds. Safety is not a concern as we are located
in a well-guarded and secure location.
Children are our main priority, and children entering our program
will leave with confidence, superior academic and social skills.
They will know and appreciate their uniqueness, capabilities, and
creativeness. In addition, they will have acquired the tools necessary
to explore their world, know their role, and succeed at any endeavor
they undertake.
Students will learn in a warm and safe learning environment where
our professional, qualified, and certified staff will teach them
how to identify their strengths and improve any weaknesses. Students
will obtain the tools necessary to overcome any challenges the future
will bring them. Our exceptional faculty along with students’ peers
will contribute to your child’s academic, and social development.
Masters Preparatory School serves the community, the state, and
the nation by beginning to prepare young people to be productive
members of society. We will instill moral and ethical behavior in
our students while nurturing their intellectual and technological
development, as well as increasing literacy and critical thinking
skills. Students will also acquire a strong work ethic and a strong
sense of responsibility.

styles. In addition, we provide an atmosphere that encourages each

integrity, and physical well-being. Masters Preparatory School is

Curriculum- “Excellence in Education
that Builds a Foundation for the Future”
Masters Preparatory School offers a complete and rich core curriculum,
as well as enrichment classes. The core curriculum consists of:
English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language,
and Performing Arts. Enrichment is provided in electives and required
courses in Computer Science, Art, Humanities, Music, Journalism,
Dance, and Physical Education.
Combined, these offer a balanced and exciting edcation your child
will greatly benefit from and enjoy. Our school utilizes the A Beka
Book curriculum which gives a traditional approach to learning.
This cirriculum undoubtedly provides learners with an excellent
foundation for learning, as well as expounding and building upon
learned concepts. The A Beka Book approach to education keeps learning
lively, interesting, and memorable. The materials reflect sensible
theory that is firmly anchored to practicality. A Beka Book materials
have been developed as a result of 50 years of actual classroom
experience.
Middle School Grade Levels (6-8)
Masters Preparatory School’s middle school provides a challenging
and dynamic curriculum that allows students to further broaden and
expand their horizons. Smaller classes allow for individualized
attention and greater attention to detail that encourages and allows
for greater comprehension. Learning takes place in a student-centered
environment that aids in the transition from middle to high school/college
preparatory years. The new curriculum offers a continuation of the
academic core curriculum. The needs and development of early adolescents
are also taken in to account.
Core Academic Courses
Language Arts
Concepts learned in the primary grades are expanded upon. Higher
level writing provides students with an opportunity to incorporate
thinking and writing, along with a focus on the five-paragraph essay.
Students read literature of all cultures, along with reading one
or two novels in each grade level. Students develop rhetorical strategies,
learn to make valid inferences, judge literature critically, and
speak clearly and expressively. Basic grammar rules are reinforced,
and students learn a plethora of new rules.
Mathematics
Basic concepts are expanded upon, and students learn new and more
complicated ones. Students learn to solve problems in real life
contexts, mathematical reasoning, more advanced problem solving
skills, and the integration of technology is utilized. All students
investigate mathematical concepts through pre-algebra, Algebra I,
and geometry.
Science
Students use critical thinking, logical reasoning, observation,
inference, and experimentation, hypothesizing, formulating, identifying,
and measuring. Students are exposed to earth science, life science,
physical science, and biology.
Social Studies/Humanities
Students are further exposed to history, economics, government,
values, customs, geography, and other aspects of the human experience.
In addition, we want to help students to develop the ability to
make practical and informed decisions for the public good as citizens
of a culturally diverse, democratic society. Students learn about
early America, world geography, the development of cities and civilizations,
and United States history to modern day.
Students who achieve outstanding academic performance are honored
on Masters Preparatory Schools honor roll. Outstanding students
are also honored at the end of the year in the Masters Preparatory
School’s Awards Ceremony.
Enrichment
Spanish
The foundation is built upon, and students will become more proficient
speakers. Upon leaving eighth grade, students will speak Spanish
fluently and effortlessly. The course is taught several times weekly.
Music
Students dive further into the world of music appreciation. Their
knowledge of instruments will increase as will their ability to
play these instruments. Music offerings include band, jazz band,
and chorus. Students perform for the school at various school shows,
presentations, and ceremonies.
Art
Students develop perceptual awareness, creative self-expression,
and a basic understanding of the history of art while building a
working portfolio. Students further develop their skills in art
and continue to develop an appreciation and interest in the arts.
Physical Education and Health
Physical Education and Health focuses on team-building, teaching
sportsmanship, and teaching cooperation through sports and activities.
This will encourage physical well-being and encourage a lifetime
participation in physical activity, recreational or organized. Students
will be well-rounded, healthy, and more productive.
Computer Science
The technology laboratory is taught in conjunction with the curriculum,
along with many other applications and computer functions. Students
learn the fundamentals of computer technology, along with safely
using the Internet and multimedia technology. Technology is utilized
to increase literacy skills and indispensable knowledge.
Reading Programs
This critical and extremely beneficial program is designed to help
those students who may be having difficulty with reading fluency
and comprehension. Students work in groups of two or three with
a certified reading specialist to improve word recognition, fluency,
and comprehension. Sessions are provided at least three times a
week.
Journalism
Students are introduced to the basics of collecting and editing
of news for presentation through the media. In addition, an introduction
to writing designed for publication in a newspaper or magazine will
be acquired. Students will produce, publish, and distribute a monthly
school newsletter.
Dance
Students engage in modern dance activities using contemporary music
like R&B and Hip-Hop. Students are given the opportunity to
participate in cheerleading as well.
Field Trips
Field trips are an important component to enhancing the educational
experience. They allow students to participate, better understand,
and witness the key concepts and information they learn in the classroom.
Field trips also allow students to see and interact with the community
in which they inhabit. Finally, field trips are a fun way for students
to learn and promote commaraderie between classmates and teachers.
Classes visit: The Museum of Discovery and Science, Miami Seaquarium,
Biscayne Natural Perserve Park, Muvico educational events, American
Amerlines Arena events, Parrot Jungle, Metro Zoo, Florida Marlins
game, Washington, DC, Busch Gardens, along with other great places.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Sports and other after school activities are an important aspect
of the entire school experience. These extra-curriculars make for
a well-rounded individual. They promote and improve social interaction,
teach the value of teamwork, strengthen internal fortitude, and
most importantly, build a strong character. We offer the following
