Attendance Policies

Absences |
|
|
|
Regular attendance and promptness
to class are necessary to assure the continuity of the educational
program. Time lost from class is irretrievable, and absences
tend to disrupt the continuity of the instructional program.
Time on task is essential if students are to succeed in their
educational efforts. Most teaching is done in an orderly sequence
of building concepts and practices based on classroom activities
and previous academic experiences. If this pattern is broken
by poor attendance, neither the student nor the school can
expect satisfactory progress. School attendance is ultimately
the responsibility of students and families. Students should
remain out of school ONLY WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY
.
Absences will be considered either excused or unexcused.
IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CREDIT, students in grades K-8 will be
allowed not more than a total of 10 absences per year including
excused and unexcused absences. |
|

Absences may be excused for
the following reasons:
required for medical, dental, or orthodontist appointments,
except in the case of an emergency. |

suspension. A parent or guardian should accompany the student
to the principal's office to be readmitted to school. Should

A student who arrives at any time after
the tardy bell 8:30 am , is considered tardy. Teachers are
instructed not to admit a student to class (tardiness to school)
without a pass after the tardy bell has rung. An acceptable
excuse must be presented to determine if the tardiness is
to be excused. The same guidelines are used for tardiness
that apply to absences and dismissals. (Refer Part I, Item
A) |
